Just a few short months ago I would have laughed if someone told me I needed Morning Power Routine, but today I’m telling YOU that YOU must have a Morning Power Routine! Without one you’re just not being the you that you can be and Should be. With one you’ll start the day focused, energized, motivated and ready to kick butt!
Rather than leaving yourself to the mercy of modern life you’re starting the day with intention. You’re saying listen here day ahead, I’m in control and I’ll tell you what path we’re taking today! You won’t be dragging yourself out of bed to have an unhealthy breakfast while listening to the shitty news or reading the shitty newspaper, then rushing off to work or school and maybe listening to the stupid mainstream radio along the way, you’ll be choosing to start the day with a spring in your step.
There’s no concrete rules to a Morning Power Routine other than it having to be positive. So no MPR is ever going to include anything to do with news or politics as both are designed to make you feel like crap. You have to fire up your mind, body, and energy levels. So if your excuse for not having a Morning Power Routine is that you start work at 6am then it’s an invalid excuse as you’re now waking up at 4:30 to start the day properly! No excuses.
My Morning Power Routine
Just remember that we’re all different, so one MPR doesn’t fit all. You have to experiment and work on your own routine to find out what is right for you. My daily routine includes the following..
- Wake up and say a few affirmations to myself. Nothing concrete, just short positive things like “I feel great” or “I love life” etc.
- Drink some water and have a quick stretch.
- Take a shower. This is where I really psych myself up for the day. I go through the things I’m thankful for. Then I go through my major goals (house, car, income). Then I go through affirmations that include health, fitness, confidence, and energy levels.
- I then have a healthy breakfast.
- And then turn PC on to listen to some affirmations while looking through images of my goals.
All up it takes me about an hour to get started. It’s not a perfect Morning Power Routine but compared to how I used to start my day it’s brilliant. I have a thousand times more energy, I’m focused, I feel light, I’m confident, I know what my goals are and I know what I have to do to achieve them!
I think I could improve my start to the day with exercise and yoga. When you turn 40 your bones start to need a little oil so I think yoga could be good for this. I really don’t have any room to do it properly in the house I’m in though so I’ll put the yoga on hold for now. An early morning power walk through the park could definitely be added to the morning routine though.
How to Start your own Morning Power Routine
See what other successful people are doing for their Morning Power Routines to get ideas but customize them to suit your life. If you don’t start to see changes in how you feel and your energy levels aren’t increased significantly after a few weeks then adjust your MPR as it’s still not right. Here’s some suggestions.
- The Mind – Get to your mind before the system and society does. Avoid television, radio and any mainstream media like the plague. Focus on yourself, your goals, your dreams, and be grateful for the great things in your life now.
- The Body – Stretching and/or exercising gets the vehicle for your day all warmed up. Make sure to use premium fuel to power this vehicle too.
- The Soul – If you’re religious or spiritual then make it a part of your routine. I believe in energy and life so I make sure to acknowledge it and be thankful for it everyday.
Don’t overthink your Morning Power Routine just start one. Make it a habit. Improve it over time. Make it a ritual and repeat it again and again. Guard it and protect it as those who don’t understand it will distract you from it. And then make an Evening Power Routine 😉
Update: I ended up posting an article on my Evening Power Routine here. Go check it out and let me know what you think.
