Mercedes-AMG showed the world the new Project ONE hybrid supercar recently at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. It’s basically a racing car for the road with Mercedes using Formula 1 hybrid technology straight from the race track. With speeds of up to 350 km/h (218mph) it’s a rocket on wheels.
Mercedes-AMG say the hybrid hypercar will rocket to 200 km/h (124 mph) in less than six seconds. So if you’re in the mood to blow off a Bugatti Chiron or a McLaren P1 at the lights then you can.
The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE comes equipped with one hybrid, turbocharged combustion engine and four electric motors. Direct from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 racing car is a 1.6-litre V6 hybrid petrol engine with direct injection and electrically assisted single turbocharger. It can do 11,000 rpm and pumps out 1000 PS or 745kW. Which in English just means fast, really fast.
Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars says “We are drawing on our experiences and successes from three constructors’ and drivers’ world championships to bring Formula 1 technology to the road for the first time.”
The rear view of the new Mercedes AMG Project ONE hypercar is just beautiful. I watched quite few reviewers going over the beast at the Frankfurt car show and didn’t hear anyone complain about the view from behind. There were couple that weren’t super impressed with the front view but the rear is a thing of beauty.
Here’s the front view of the new Mercedes AMG project ONE that a couple of reviewers weren’t impressed by. Little bit picky if you ask me though as I think it’s beautiful. It’s super aggressive and sexy so it ticks all my sportscar boxes.
Here’s the Mercedes-AMG ONE at its world premiere at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. Car goers flocked to it like moths to a flame. It created a lot of buzz and rightfully so as the AMG ONE takes street legal to a whole other level.
Check out the side view on the beast. Nothing about the project One vehicle is subtle and those willing to pay millions of dollars for it are not paying for subtlety, they’re paying for WOW, which the ONE has plenty of.
Speaking of WOW, have a look at the interior of the Mercedes AMG ONE. It’s part Formula 1 racing car and part alien spaceship!
A few reports online said that there will be 8 of them coming to my home country, Australia. I would like to say that one of them is for me but my first goal is to be able to pay the registration and insurance on my 2010 Holden ute this year!
For my fellow Australians in the state of NSW you will require an estimated $1.8 million just to pay for TAXES!! The Project One is estimated to cost $3.38 million Australian dollars ($2.69 million USD) for the car itself. That’s one seriously profitable extortion racket the Australian government has going. You would assume that Australian roads are paved with gold when you see how much they add to every sale but no, we have potholes and crap roads just like every other Western country. We just have a hungrier government.. and the only thing it eats is taxpayer dollars. So, suck it up Aussies. Get rich or stay a slave.
Don’t get too excited though as the Mercedes AMG Project is still a couple of years off. 2019 if all goes smoothly. This is the official concept model but it’s said to be pretty close to the production model. I would be a happy man if I could have my dream car by then, the Mercedes AMG C63 S Coupe, which now looks very mild after the project ONE 😉
